NBC News.". Who could of believed that up until the 90’s when Americans watched the news, they got there news from just
three nightly evening news shows on TV, ABC, CBS and NBC.
Now you have cable news shows such as CNN, MSNBC, Current TV, Fox and Comedy Central, not to mention everything on the
internet at places like YouTube. For the most part television no longer reports the news ,it infotain’s people.
We now categorize news sources into basically two camps, Main Stream Media (MSM) and right wing fundamentalist news such
as Fox. In fact it was the right wing talking head Rush Limbaugh who propagated the use of the term MSM to differentiate himself
from everyone else. Now all right wing talking heads use the term MSM to pigeonhole themselves into right wing fundamentalism.
People like Sean "Baghdad Bob" Hannity have turned their right wing propaganda filled lies and misdirection into a very
unpleasant and un-American form of communications that plays well with the fundamentalist hardcore base in the GOP. And many
Republican politicians who count on that same hardcore base for votes, play along to lend it credibility when in reality all
they are doing is prostituting themselves for votes. These politicians also know from experience that if they say something
that the Limbaugh’s of our country don’t like, the right wing talking heads will attack them much like a wild
pack of dogs would attack their pray, so republicans find it easier to play along.
Political shock jocks like Hannity, Limbaugh and Beck shock for ratings. Do you honestly think anyone would listen or watch
these shows if the hosts spoke calmly with facts, truth and common sense, vs. the lies misdirection, outrage and yelling they
spew? Of course not. That would not be entertaining for today’s right wing fundamentalist base.
That is why most liberal radio shows either have low ratings or do not air in many US markets. Today's generation wants
to be entertained as opposed to being well informed and if people like Limbaugh can entertain while appearing to inform then
they get good ratings, it's not about information and news, its all about style and delivery.
MSM always seems to be chasing the lies spewed by right wing media and while they do a good job of debunking the lies,
they also lend credibility to the lies and misdirection’s by asking some of the same illogical questions. This has to
do with the right wing theory that if you repeat a lie often enough it will stick and become the truth in some malleable minds
that permeate in the base of the GOP.
In my opinion if CNN, MSNBC, ABC and all the others that are under the so called MSM umbrella, if they were to just ignore
everything from Fox that is misleading and false ( the majority of Fox shows lie and mislead ), and refuse to ask the same
misleading questions, then the lies would not be perpetuated and maybe some real news could be disseminated.
But that won't happen, they all feed off of each other, and for the most part they don't report news, they just chase controversy's
based in utter nonsense.
There are a few voices that still rise above the clatter and deliver news, but everyday their voices are harder to find
and harder to hear.
